The Bambi is an annual television and media prize awarded by the German media company Hubert Burda Media. It was created in 1948 and it is said that the prize was named by the daughter of the first winner", who was inspired by Felix Salten's book "Bambi, A Life in the Woods".
The prize was originally a deer made of porcelain. Since 1958, the deer has been made of gold by the art casting workshop of Ernst Strassacker in Süßen.
